VE 80 Day Celebrations

The VE 80 Day celebrations kicked off in the morning with the raising of the unique VE 80 Day flag and the Proclamation. The Mayor, Cllr Pamela Davidson, read the proclamation at 9am, in line with many other towns and cities throughout the country. The Mayor then planted the 80th poppy in front of the British Legion club. Tea and cupcakes are were served in the TIC between 10am and 1pm, and it was great atmosphere! Lakeland in Lettering Exhibition

Eden Valley Scribes have done a fantastic Exhibition in Appleby Tourist Information Centre, which will run from Monday 13th January to Friday 28th February. We are open 10-2 from Monday to Saturday (open until 3pm on Fridays), so come and have a look at some calligraphy.[...]

Heritage Open Weekend 2024

Heritage Open Days: Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2024 This year’s Heritage Open Weekend is sure to be a good one! Events include: Moot Hall: The Council Chamber will be open for viewing on Saturday and Sunday. Appleby’s copy of Foxe’s ‘Book of Martyrs’ published in1632 will be on display in the Moot Hall Exhibition Centre, and local historian Barry McKay will be available on Sunday from 11am-1pm to provide more in-depth knowledge about the volumes. Appleby Heritage QR Code Trail

Appleby Town Council have launched a new heritage QR trail, which will feature the key heritage sites in the town. Visitors scan the QR code on their phone to listen to a short audio clip and photographs for each of the sites. The trail currently includes four locations – The Moot Hall Council Chamber, St Lawrence’s Church, St Anne’s Almshouses and High and Low Cross. marie curie month – March 2023
