VE 80 Day Celebrations

The VE 80 Day celebrations kicked off in the morning with the raising of the unique VE 80 Day flag and the Proclamation. The Mayor, Cllr Pamela Davidson, read the proclamation at 9am, in line with many other towns and cities throughout the country. The Mayor then planted the 80th poppy in front of the British Legion club. Tea and cupcakes are were served in the TIC between 10am and 1pm, and it was great atmosphere! Events include: Moot Hall: The Council Chamber will be open for viewing on Saturday and Sunday. Appleby Heritage QR Code Trail

Appleby Town Council have launched a new heritage QR trail, which will feature the key heritage sites in the town. Visitors scan the QR code on their phone to listen to a short audio clip and photographs for each of the sites. The trail currently includes four locations – The Moot Hall Council Chamber, St Lawrence’s Church, St Anne’s Almshouses and High and Low Cross. marie curie month – March 2023
