Appleby is well located for the road and rail networks.
By road:
If using a sat nav the postcode for the centre is CA16 6YB.
From North East England, Yorkshire and the East Midlands: Use the A66 from Scotch Corner which passes Appleby – follow the signs.
From Scotland: Leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), take the A66 eastbound and follow the signs.
From North West England and the West Midlands: Leave the M6 at junction 38 (Tebay), take the B6260 into the town centre.
By rail:
Appleby has its own station on the Settle to Carlisle line.
Alternatively use the West Coast Main line to Penrith and get a taxi or Bus from the station.
By bus:
The Stagecoach 563 Bus runs Monday to Saturday only, between Penrith, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen. Currently the £3 bus fare applies.
The 561 shopping bus service runs from Appleby to Kendal, and returns, on a Wednesday.
